Extended spring training is a structured program that is designed for minor league baseball players who are not yet ready to participate in the regular season. It takes place after the conclusion of the regular spring training and is held at the major league parent team's spring training facility. Extended spring training involves workouts, rehabilitation sessions, simulated games, and exhibition games. It is meant to help players who are deemed unprepared for a full-season campaign due to inexperience or injury to improve their skills and gain experience before being assigned to full-season Class A, AA, or AAA minor league affiliate clubs. Game, scrimmage and practice schedules are frequently subject to change by the player development staff of the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals and cannot be provided by Surprise Stadium.
The Arizona Complex League, operated by Major League Baseball, is a Rookie-level circuit that has operated in Arizona since 1988. Games are open to the public with free admission. Visit Arizona Complex League for roster and daily scoreboard information.
